The Global WACC Calculator by Fraunhofer IEE is an interactive web application for estimating country-specific Weighted Average Cost of Capital values for green Power-to-X projects and energy system modelling. It combines country risk premiums, corporate tax rates and adjustable financial assumptions to derive real and nominal WACC values for around 200 countries.
Users can explore global WACC patterns through an interactive world map, adjust key parameters such as the risk-free rate, beta, equity risk premium, debt spread, capital structure and inflation rate, and compare the sensitivity of results across scenarios. By making financing assumptions transparent, reproducible and exportable, the tool supports more consistent techno-economic assessments of PtX production costs, import potentials and energy transition pathways in research, policy and industry.
